Intervention Specialists design, execute and assess individualized programs based on various factors such as age, gender and cultural background.
Essential Accountabilities Values Staff Members:
Collaborate with the Director of Vocational Services, Case Managers, Director of the site Participate in weekly meetings with teams in classroom Work cooperatively with regular associate teachers Ensure morning meeting / closing meeting and team meetings occur Communicate regularly with professional staff regarding the educational, social/behavioral, and personal needs of students.
Values Students:
Provide an educational program for students as defined in the students Individualized Education Program (IEP) Participate in a monthly meeting to approve, analyze and evaluate the progress of the IEP?s Develope, implement, monitor IEP based on current ETR classroom parent data Ensure IEP?s are fully compliant and meet state standards Create ETR components as required by law Complete necessary reports and record keeping as required by state and local policies and procedures Evaluate student progress through observations, data review Interprete the abilities and disabilities of these students, assists in classroom intervention strategies, modifies general education curriculum as necessary, and assists the student with class assignments Create lesson plans according to Ohio Academic content standards and or extended Ohio academic content standards Monitor student progress by checking notebooks monthly to create quarterly progress reports Values Parents:
Communicate regularly with parents regarding the educational, social/behavioral, and personal needs of students Maintain parent communication (conferences, meetings, e-mails, and phone calls as needed) Assist and supports families by providing support and guidance to resources available through county Attend meetings to support families with education goals and transitions Advocate for clients and coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations Belief in Students:
Assist the student in making an assessment of his/her abilities and in establishing educational and vocational occupational goals in keeping with these abilities Create a classroom atmosphere that promotes physical and emotional well being, through the use of proper proactive strategies and assessment Develop programming by utilizing the methods of applied behavioral analysis to promote independence through communication, joint attention and independence Utilize natural environmental teaching to assist in maintaining and generalizing skills Operates with Integrity:
Work to foster a nurturing, safe school culture and a learning community that nurtures and supports students, family, staff and diversity Participate in professional growth activities through staff development, inservice, workshops, and higher education Manage classroom funds Maintain the integrity of STEPS Educational Model Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of the Site or his/her designee Work Environment Position can require or involve some degree of physical interaction with students who have difficulty controlling physical behavior.
Physical Demands Must be able to use a variety of equipment for children with special needs.
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment.
Must occasionally lift, move and/or support up to 50 pounds (and/or up to adult size body weight with two-to-three person lift).
